Devon Holiday Cottages

West Country Lets is a new kind of holiday lettings agency.

Most people have at some time stayed in a holiday cottage or apartment. But choosing a holiday cottage can be very hit and miss. A search on Google reveals a bewildering choice. And it’s all too common to arrive only to be disappointed: decor that doesn’t match the photographs, kitchens with worn out pots and pans, worn out sofas or worst of all inadequate levels of housekeeping.

We felt there had to be a better way and West Country Lets is the result. We aim to cut through the clutter buy providing a hand-picked selection of Devon holiday Cottages that all guarantee fantastic locations, great facilities and high quality standards. Our rule of thumb is that, in most cases, people expect their holiday home to be as comfortable as the home they’ve left behind. And if we wouldn’t happily stay there ourselves you won’t find it on our website.

That property could be a fisherman’s cottage in a secluded cove, a beachside house, a waterside apartment or a traditional thatched cottage deep in the countryside. We ensure our descriptions are honest, straightforward and easy to understand.

Devon holiday Cottages are particularly popular and not without reason. Much of Devon offers the rare combination of hill walking (cycling or riding) and seaside just a short drive apart. For example from our headquarters in Dartingon near Totnes you can reach scores of fantastic beaches in less than 30 minutes, but turn in the other direction and you can find yourself up on Dartmoor. With fantastic views from the Tors all the way to the sea together with Dartmoor ponies, rivers and waterfalls and amazing old country pubs. It’s not unusual to find pubs over 500 years old. In fact our local pub, The Cott, dates back to the 14th Century

The Devon area also has an almost unrivalled range of activities. Choose from low level river valley walks, rugged walking on Dartmoor or perhaps you’d prefer to hike a section of the South West coast path. And because the weather, even in Devon, can be fickle there are lots of wet weather activities on hand too.

The area is also perfect for cycling. Take your pick of family friendly cycle paths or more challenging on or off road hilly rides.

There’s a full range of water sports: surfing sailing, fishing, kayaking, swimming, kite surfing or just pottering about on the beach. And there are of course a wealth of great golf courses all within easy reach of most Devon holiday cottages.
